Asking for Self, Male, 62 years old, Jeddah

السلام علیکم I have gone through an angioplasty before 3 years ago in Jeddah. I am using Rovista (Ruvastatin 20mg) along with Plavix 75 and Asprin 80. My cholesterol level was on 180 before which is dropped to 107 after the continuous use of Statin tablets. My question is that shall I continue with Rovista for some more time or can I discontinue it ?

Yes Dear
Use of Rovista is life saving drug for cardiac pts as it prevents narrowing of hearts vessels.
it is to be taken life long.
if you feals weakness or muscle pains then start taking
Tab Vit-o-Care once a day for a month

Never stop Rovista. As you have already had angioplasty, are male and above 60 years, your heart risk is high. You need to continue 20-40mg statin. As you are already on the lower dose, DO NOT STOP.
please note that asking for opinion on messaging leads to dangerous inexpert advice.
do not use message as a shortcut to full consultation. the need for statin is not only dependent on your serum cholesterol. age, gender and previous heart disease, BP or diabetes, plus HDL level are also needed to assess heart risk.

AoA! My advice to your question is to reduce the dose of Rosuvastatin to 5 mg daily as a maintenance and you need to continue it life long with annual evaluation of lipid profile which might need to further adjust the dose in future. Thanks
