Talk to General Physician on Circumcision - 5 Months Old

My son is 5 months old now. Circumcision was delayed for low birth weight but now he's healthy. I have consulted a surgeon and he said Ring method can not be used now as he's little grown up and recommends day care surgery with general anesthesia to perform Circumcision. i want to know if someone can still perform ring method ?
