The sores on lips are due to a virus called Herpes simplex virus 1.The HSV type 2 causes genital sores.These lesions can be transmitted by intimate ontact.They usually heal in 2 weeks .Triggers are sleep deprivstion,fatigue stress,certain foods,sunlight or surgery.
