Asking for Mother, Female, 53 years old, Sukkur
Hello Dr, Few weeks ago my mother was diagnosed with a diabetes. She is taking Glucophage 250 after breakfast just one tablet in a day. Her fasting sugar level is under control which is in between 105-120. But random sugar level is high like 236, 251 and sometimes 286. Kindly tell me what to do in order to control random sugar level
increase tab glucophage to 500mg od
make sure she is taking appropriate portions of carbohydrate in her mealsor fruits as well . tey avoid hidden carbs and sugar .doet regulation is key to control sugar levels well
Diabetes management require proper diet, excersize and medications plan based on patient weight and lifestyle.
You need to consult a diabetes doc for her counseling and education as it's a life long diaorder. Controlling on fasting sugars should never be satisfactory target.
Glucophage 250mg once or twice a day is just introductory dose for proper diabetes control dose escalation is required with compliance to diet & physical activity.
