Asking For Self, Male 22, Gujrat
i want to ask Drs about omega 3 , new research have shown that omega 3 supplement (more than 1 gram per day) can increase the risk of atrial fibrillation, now my confusion is does same rule applies to omega 3 in diet , for example 30 grams of wallnuts have 2.5 grams of omega 3 does this also increase the risk of atrial fibrillation....?
Upper limit of omega 3 is 3g/ day. you can decrease portion size or consume on alternative days.
https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/042-32591427,
this is the latest article on the issue ....there is a dose response relationship and no large level of significance was found after data analysis ...food will not have the same effect . so have fun and eat all the walnuts you want
if you take omega 3 just from diet such as fish or walnuts so should not be worry about anything
In diet its all healthy and normal. Excessive supplements can cause issue. Do, moderation is the key
Patients who took more than one gram per day of omega-3 fatty acids had a 49% increased risk of developing atrial fibrillation, compared to just 12% of patients who took one gram or less of the supplement per day.06-Oct-2021

Hi,
Too much of anything is harmful, even healthy things.
However, consuming natural sources has a protective effect, including cardioprotection by consuming omega 3 within normal daily limits, less than or equal to 3 g per day.
Supplemental sources - unlike natural sources - do not have lasting benefits, and excessive intake may lead to significant adverse effects.
For further guidance, kindly book an appointment.
Thank you.
