Talk to General Physician on Persistent Cough And Mucus In Throat

I fell sick in university around three weeks ago because of the excessive cold, smog and the cigarette smoke around my uni. Initially, it was bad when my back muscles cramped bad, the pain enough to make me not be able to walk at all. It felt like the pain of arthritis. I had sinus then but it recovered fast. I had headaches, flu and severe temperature. All is well now, but since those three weeks, my cough is persistent. I keep coughing even when no medicine is affecting me. The coughing starts abruptly and I have trouble breathing while recovering. I suddenly wake up nights hitting my chest to make the cough go away. Since a few days, there is excessive mucus accumulation in my throat, right at the back of my mouth. Any reason as to why this is happening constantly and continuously? I never had such long and painful coughs. Jazakallah.
