Talk to General Physician on Pilonidle Sinus Surgery

Hi. I am diagnosed with Pilonidle sinus and doctor recommended me to go for Surgery. He gave me 2 options to proceed with. 1. To make stitches after surgery and there are 50% chances of recurrence. 2. To keep the wound open and change dressing upto 2 months till its recovery with no recurrence chances.
Please advise which one is better to go with. Is keeping wound open dangerous or its normal?
