Asking for Self, Male, 26 years old, Gujrat
Two days ago, on Jan 18, Wed, an 8 weeks old puppy showed symptoms of rabies in my neighborhood. He was bitten by a dog about two weeks ago. I have two male cats who were unvaccinated and roam freely. I have a fear that cats might have shared food with the puppy in the recent days and been exposed to the virus.
On Sunday, 15 Jan, one of the male cat scratched my right hand upon provocation. Scratch was minor and only little bleeding happened. Until that day, puppy was asymptomatic. Rabies symptoms appeared in the puppy two days later (first loss of appetite, then fever 102F, muscle spasms, jammed jaws and excessive saliva). As on Sunday, there were no symptoms of rabies in puppy, I took the scratches lightly.
I have got first vaccination of rabies (Rabipur) on Jan 19, Thursday. Should I also take immunoglobulin or it's not necessary? Please guide I'm worried about it.
