Talk to General Physician on Vitamins In Tablet Form Cause Allergic Reaction

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Female, 29 years old, Islamabad

Hi, I need some advice. Every time I take multivitamin tablets, I get rashes on my body. A doctor once said I might be allergic to the coating or additives. I’ve tried Neurobion, Methycobal, and several other multivitamin tablets available in the market — all caused allergic reactions.

However, injections work fine for me with no side effects. Since I have kidney stress, my doctor recommends vitamins, but I’m not sure what to do.

Are there any safer alternatives?

Thanks.

Maybe you are allergic to B-complex vitamin especially b12. Neurobion, methycobal are loaded with that.
Try some broad spectrum multi-vitamin with low dose.

I’ve experienced allergic reactions (rashes) after taking the following oral multivitamin tablets:

Multivit

Medivit

Surbex-Z

Neurobion tablets

Methycobal tablets

Plus one other brand I can’t recall the name of

However, Neurobion injections do not cause any allergic reaction — they are well tolerated.
A doctor suggested the reactions may be due to tablet coatings or inactive additives/excipients.
