I have noticed a small lump on the right side of my neck. I am not sure whether it is a cyst or an enlarged lymph node. I would like an evaluation to determine the cause. The lump is located on the right side of my neck. I would like guidance on whether it could be a swollen lymph node, cyst, or another condition, and whether any tests or examination are needed.

Get an ultrasound scan of the swelling
Needs detailed history and examination. Could be a lymph node or thyroid lump
You need detailed clinical evaluatuon by a General Surgeon and get ultrasound of neck done to know the status of this swelling as well as rest of the nodes and glands.
You meed clinical examination and Ultrasound neck initially to determine whether it is a cyst/lymph node or any other etiology
you need ultrasound then FNAC .

In any case it can be removed especially if it is big causing pain is infected or due to cosmetic reason. Tests depend on the exact location and size. You will have to get it examined in person.
