Talk to General Surgeon on Wound Healing Of Pilonidal Sinus Wide Excision
Asking For Self, Male 37, Sindh
I had open wound pilonidal sinus surgery with wide excision at sacral region 25 days back. Now doctor says wound has healed more than 50 percent. I am on Augmentin and Novidate with one anti inflammatory tab. Now past two days when we open dressing I can see whitish, greenish, sticky jell type liquid coming out. After washing for new dressing it disappears. No foul odour or pain or fever. Is it pus or is it normal healing slough?

it is infected, get a wound swab for culture and sensitivity, do dressings twice daily, and antibiotic will be decided based on culture report. continue augmentin till then.
take culture
daily wash wound thoroughly with soap n water apply Fucidin cream
stop oral antibiotics
there is slough in depth that if not cleared with washing would need d3bridement

wound is infected with mild pus but granulated and healing , if no fever , severe pain then it can be managed with dressing but will took some time, do dressing twice a day, and do visit surgeon for clinical examination

I do not have any pain or fever. This mild liquid was just easily washed with dressing. Once dressing wws done this off whitish liquid was gone. No pain at all. Now doctor has asked ne to take bath while wound ooen than dry the wound, put oxeferen drops in wound and put guaz above the wound and pack it.

yes it will heal with dressing and hygiene maintenance, proper diet, and do shave hair around wound it may delay healing as due to irritation.

Surgon has recommended to open wound, take bath, let wqter and soap go into wound. Than dry it with guaz, insert oxeferen drops and put guaz above the wound and pack it. He instructed not to insert guaz inside. Is this pattern ok sir? He says yiur wound is 60 percent healed.

Sir if its infected then why it is not causing any pain, fever or bad odour. It just very eqsily flushes out once dressed. I am already on Augmentin bd and Novidate by surgeon.
