A rash that’s lasted six weeks and feels severe shouldn’t be ignored. First, keep the area clean and dry, and use a gentle, fragrance‑free moisturizer to help soothe irritation. If the rash is itchy, an oral antihistamine like cetirizine can help, but it’s best to take it under a doctor’s guidance. For many persistent rashes, a topical steroid cream (e.g., hydrocortisone 1%) applied twice daily can reduce inflammation and itching. Avoid scratching, hot showers, and harsh soaps. If you notice spreading, blisters, fever, or the rash doesn’t improve in a few days, schedule an appointment with a dermatologist or your primary care provider. They can run a quick skin test or biopsy to rule out infections, allergies, or autoimmune causes and prescribe a stronger medication if needed.
