Talk to Nephrologist on CKD, Lupus Nephritis

Dear Doctor, My daughter is 15 years old and has been a CKD patient on hemodialysis since November 2024. I would like to ask if it is possible for her to convert to peritoneal dialysis instead of continuing hemodialysis. Kindly advise on her suitability for this option and what tests or evaluations would be required. Thanks regard Doctor.

yes definitely peritoneal dialysis can be opted as mode of renal replacement therapy.
Need abdominal examination to rule out any hernia or history of previous abdominal surgeries .

yes she can be switched peritoneal dialysis ,in fact that is a better option in children and people with heart failure .
if there is no history of any abdominal surgeries then proceed for peritoneal dialysis catheter and initiate pd
