Asking for Other, Male, 1 years old, Lahore
My son ( 1.5 years and 10.2 kgs) is recently diagnosed with epilepsy. He is being given lerace ( 1ml morning+1ml evening) regularly on doctors advise. But his behavior has changed since a week or two. He is showing much anger and aggressiveness, also crying and shouting even on little things. Also Gets annoyed easily. These symptoms were shown when he started taking medicine but later symptoms went away. But now he is again experienceing such things. What to do
Lerace cause mood changes. Can’t stop this medicine at once as there will be risk of seizures. Epival is ideal choice
Thank you for your message regarding your son's behaviour since starting Leviteracetam. It is not uncommon for some children to experience behavioural changes as side effects of this medication. The anger, aggressiveness, and irritability you’ve described can sometimes occur, especially during the initial stages of treatment or with dosage adjustments.
I recommend discussing these symptoms with your son's doctor, who may consider adjusting his medication or adding Vitamin B6, which can help mitigate some side effects. It's important to ensure a comprehensive approach to managing his epilepsy while prioritising his emotional well-being.
In the meantime, providing a calm and supportive environment may help him cope with the changes. Please keep a close eye on his behaviour and communicate openly with his healthcare provider about all your concerns.
