Asking For Father, Male 63, Lahore
My Father is 63 years old and suffers from pain in Left shoulder sometime during day since 1 year. He had consulted many doctor but few suggested vitamin D injections etc. Upon consulting a Doctor recently identified it as Cervical spondylosis and suggested some exercises and medicine for bones and muscles strength. Please suggest how this can be cured and what is the best treatment for this.
he probably has pain in C5 dermatome (yellow color area in picture). this is due to compression of nerve in the neck at the level of C5 (5th neck disc). Definite treatment is exercise or surgery only. medicines do not reverse the problem. search for "cervical radiculopathy exercises by Dr Jo" on YouTube and have him do it daily twice a day for 2 months. also avoid bending neck to read/ work in order not to make it worse. hope this helps. for detailed discussion, make an online or in person appointment. thanks
Let us have MRI of cervical spine first. Meanwhile hard cervical collar with exercises and modification of posture would help. Pain killers as less and toxic to be prescribed.
