This is caused by compression of the ulnar nerve which in your mother’s case may be getting compressed during the night when she sleeps on that side. This nerve passes behind your elbow and can be felt with your fingers. Try an elbow support at night . Consult a neurologist online
Hand numbness and pins and needles on the side where your little finger is caused by compression of the ulnar nerve possibly due to faulty position of the arm during sleep. Consult a neurologist who may suggest use of an elbow support which you can wear day and night for a few days.
