Talk to Neuro Physician on Seizure And Vertigo

Assalamu Alaikum, Doctor. A 10 years ago, I had a sudden seizure, and since then I have been taking Seizunil 200 mg as prescribed. I was feeling better for some time, but recently I have started experiencing vertigo (severe dizziness) again. It feels as if the surroundings are spinning, and I have difficulty maintaining my balance. Could you please advise me on what might be causing this? Do I need any tests or a change in my medication? I would appreciate your guidance. Thank you.

Seizunil is a brand name for a well known anti epileptic drug carbamazepine which is commonly sold under the brand name Tegretol. This is well known for its side effect of dizziness. Dizziness which is a sensation of swimminess is not vertigo which is a sensation of your head or your surroundings going round and the two are often mistakenly thought to be the same. As you have been taking this medication for some years the only reason why it is suddenly starting to cause dizziness may be the preparation itself.
