Talk to Orthopedic Surgeon on What Causes Sudden Knees Pain Start After Wakeup?

Actually, my husband has severe pain in their leg, in the knee area or slightly above the knee area. The pain is very severe, but after taking a painkiller, the pain disappears for a few hours. However, whenever my husband sleeps and wakes up, he gets severe pain in both knee areas ( slightly above the knees), and this has been happening for the past 2 days. I don't know what should i do. Can anyone please suggest?
