Asking for Self, Male, 30 years old, Sheikhupura
Aoa.. I am diagnosed bipolar disorder since 2019 but taking medications for over 10 years.
Currently i am taking Lemnet 50mg in the morning only.
I am suffering from insomnia.. can hardly sleep 3 - 4 hours after which i wake up. Don't want to take sleeping pills because they are very addictive
I tried melatonin, valerian root but nothing worked. Is it possible i might have a magnesium deficiency?
Is it possible to treat this problem naturally?
Also I dont want to take medicine forever the doctors not helping me get off.
I had 2 manic episodes where i totally lost my memory and psychotic
Please advice
You should follow American Psychiatric treatment guideline for Bipolar Disorder.in my opinion you should take medications for bipolar disorder to avoid treatment resistance and hospitalisation and psychosocial consequences.
wa salam. sometimes medications wase asar ni kr rhi Hoti Jase krna chye hr medicine k hr individual PE different side effects a rhy hty ha.
You may have magnesium deficiency, which can affect sleep, but it's not the main cause in bipolar-related insomnia. Natural methods like CBT-I, mindfulness, and a strict sleep routine can help. Avoid stopping medication suddenly due to your history of manic psychosis. Consider a second opinion with a psychologist your problem can be manageable through psychological therapeutic management. Please book a session for detailed assessment and evaluation. you can book my online appointment and in person through Marham.
You wish it to be some vitamin or mineral deficiency, similar thought process that takes people to quacks for a “cure”. This disorder like anyother illness that needs lifelong management. There are ways to minimize medications and there are ways to make them easier to take. Check out my video about youtube on bipolar disorder channel name is Nafsiyat Nama. Plus not all sleeping meds are addictive
please get appointment for detail assessment review your medication
Needs detailed assessment and proper treatment plan if you are asymptomatic we can deal with it by follow up and reducing medication but for insomnia that has to be treated first.
well you need proper treatment, which is mainstay, However otger intervention will delay you recurrance condition. More ever proper assessment is also needed
when sleep is decreasing this could be an early sign of relapse, and sleep reduction can trigger your manic episode. so take something as soon as possible so that you sleep ateast 7-8 hours. You can start with Tab. Qutiapiene 25 mg at night. also seek help of your psychiatrist as soon as possible.
consult a clinical psychologist for therapy sessions you might be able to cope with these issues
you can also book an appointment with me.
thank you

Thank you for sharing your problem. Bipolar disorder is a chronic and relapsing psychiatric condition. Medications especially mood stabilizers are the mainstay of treatment. How ever, adjunctive natural and lifestyle strategies play a supportive role, particularly for insomnia , stress and mood regulatioin. And yes magnessium deficiency can play a role in insomnia . Consult a psychiatrist.
