In April 2025, I started having issues with constipation, a fissure, and hemorrhoids. Right from the start, I was constantly Googling, terrified that I’d end up needing surgery since I’ve seen two people in my family go through it. I was so convinced it was hopeless that I didn't even think the doctor could treat it. After a month, I finally saw someone, used the prescribed suppositories, and the issue actually went away. I was so happy, but that only lasted a week. By June 2025, the pain came back even without constipation every time I had a bowel movement. Since then, it’s been constant irritation and discomfort that just won't go away, to the point where even sitting down feels uncomfortable. I’ve seen two GPs and two colorectal surgeons, and they all tell me the same thing: the fissure is healed and the internal hemorrhoids are too small to be causing this much daily pain. Many times, when a person sees something problematic happening in the family to more than one member, automatically the mind starts to believe that the same thing can happen to the individual as well. This is called ANTs (Automatic Negative Thoughts). Our mind works on survival mode. The first thought that comes to mind is negative, holding fear that this scenerio is very bad and I will have it since my family had it. It is very important to rule out organicity (medical causes) before treating it psychologically or psychiatically. Since organicity has been ruled out in your case, you will require psychotherapy from the clinical psychologist who will help you challange your distorted believes. It is done by applying CBT. It is a gradual process and takes time but is very effective. Psychotherapist will also help you to over come fear of having the illness. I hope there are no scar tissue formations causing trouble. If that is not the case, then psychotherapy will be very helpful. Wish you good health.
