Welcome, Alp is Alprazolam it is a benzodiazepine medicine, it is not a first-line treatment of any disease rather give it for a short period of time to control severe anxiety, stress and irritability, restlessness and mainly for sleep improvement, it should not be taken self and not more than 4 weeks and it should be started and tapper off by a professional, the main treatment for depression is antidepressant medications, which take a little longer time to show the response. its effect is depressant that's why it induces sleep .
Yes it is helpful in anxiety but it is not first line medicine.
