Talk to Psychiatry on Ice And Weed Drug Addict

person-avatar

Asking for Husband, Male, 35 years old, Hyderabad

Sir/Madam, My problem is that I have been married for 9 years. My husband has been involved in drugs such as ice, weed, and sometimes beer. He has also been in inappropriate relationships with other women. We have no children because he has azoospermia. Recently, I caught my husband in the above-mentioned situation. After seeing all this, I left him and went to my mother’s house. Following this, my husband admitted himself to an anti-narcotics hospital to get treatment for his drug addiction. My questions are: Is 100% recovery possible after treatment? What kind of circumstances might I face if I go back to my husband? Can he become a normal person again? How much time does it take for complete withdrawal from drugs?

Your husband is dealing with Substance Use Disorder, which is a chronic but treatable condition. Recovery is possible, but a 100 percent guarantee cannot be given, as there is always a risk of relapse, especially in the early phase. Detox or withdrawal from substances like methamphetamine, cannabis, and alcohol typically takes 1 to 2 weeks, but cravings and psychological symptoms can persist for months, and full recovery requires long term rehabilitation and follow-up.He can return to normal functioning only if he remains consistently abstinent, engaged in therapy, and makes sustained lifestyle changes. Issues such as infidelity and trust are separate and will require psychological and relational work.not just addiction treatment. If you consider returning, you may face challenges such as relapse risk, trust issues, and emotional instability in early recovery. It is advisable to proceed only if he is in structured ongoing treatment, demonstrates consistent behavioral change, and clear boundaries are established. Your emotional well being and safety should remain the priority.

I’m sorry you are facing such a painful and confusing situation. The positive thing is that your husband has started treatment, and recovery from drugs like ice and weed is possible with proper psychiatric care, rehabilitation and long-term follow-up. However, recovery is usually gradual and requires patience, honesty and consistency from the patient.

Withdrawal symptoms may settle within weeks, but emotional and behavioural improvement can take longer. Before making any major decision, it is important to carefully observe his commitment to treatment and stability over time.

You may book a confidential online appointment if you would like professional guidance regarding addiction recovery, relapse prevention and how to protect your own emotional wellbeing during this process.
