Talk to Psychiatry on Persistent Overthinking, Repetitive Thoughts, And Mental Distress

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Male, 18 years old, Karachi

I have been struggling with overthinking, repetitive thoughts, and constantly thinking about the past for around 1.5 years. I often compare my current life to my past and feel like I have become mentally stuck. These thoughts affect my daily life, focus, enjoyment, and peace of mind. In social situations, I sometimes become self-conscious and feel stuck during conversations.

At times, it feels like an endless loop that is difficult to escape from. These thoughts have appeared in my dreams many times, and I sometimes experience suicidal thoughts as well.

I have previously consulted a psychiatrist who prescribed medication, but I felt that my main problem was not properly addressed and that some of the advice I received was not relevant to my situation. I now want to understand my thoughts and behavioral patterns through therapy.

I have also tried to understand my problem through AI and internet research. From what I have read, therapies such as CBT or ACT may be helpful, and I would like to discuss whether they are suitable for my case. My budget is limited. I have tried various strategies on my own, but the problem keeps returning over time, which is why I want a deeper understanding and a way to resolve these issues.

Is there a solution to this? It feels never-ending, and I feel like I have lost hope.

Thank you for sharing your experience so openly. What you're describing—the endless loop of overthinking, comparing past to present, and feeling mentally stuck—sounds exhausting and deeply painful. Please know that you are not alone in this, and your feelings are valid.

I can hear your frustration with previous treatment and your desire for deeper understanding rather than just medication. You've done remarkable work already by researching therapies like CBT and ACT—these are indeed evidence-based approaches that can help break the cycle of repetitive thoughts and address the underlying patterns you're describing.

I strongly encourage you to consult me for counseling and psychotherapy. Here's why I believe I can help:

· We can work together to understand why your mind keeps returning to the past and how to gently redirect it.
· I offer CBT and ACT-based approaches tailored to your specific situation and budget concerns—we can discuss affordable options.
· We will address the root causes, not just symptoms—this is what you've been missing.
· Suicidal thoughts are serious—please reach out immediately if they intensify, but therapy can provide you with tools to manage them safely.

You said it feels never-ending, but I want you to hear this clearly: It is not hopeless, and it is treatable. Many people have walked this path and found relief through the right therapeutic approach.

Dear you are not mad. There is stuff that imitates you to feel like that. The are good reasons that appear us to feel mad. But prayers, Quran reading, hygiene, exercise, good nutrition and medicines beats the mad stigma and bring back the hero in you. And your mental bully a crier a looser a real MAD.
