Asking for Self, Female, 34 years old, Rawalpindi

I have been suffering from depression from quiet a long now and I have been suppressing it thinking it would go away. I am currently working and I try to keep my self busy through different activities. I also traing to help me cope with the sadness I feel. After everything, the depressive state comes back again and again and at times I cannot get myself to move and do anything. It has gone so intense that I feel that no matter what I do, nothinf helps. I try to fill in those hole through engaging in different activities or talking to someone. Those only work for a while but then the sorrow return. I have this sense of deep sandness inside me that I am unable to get rid of. I have lost interest in everything. I feel that my memory is also getting affected and I cannot concentrate. It is affecting my professional as well as personal life. I feel miserable and unworthy all the time. I have long ignored the problem to avoid medication but it has gone worse now.

What you are describing sounds emotionally exhausting, and it is clear you have been trying very hard to cope on your own for a long time. When sadness, loss of interest, low motivation, poor concentration, feelings of worthlessness, and emotional numbness continue despite staying busy, it is important to take them seriously rather than silently carrying the burden alone.

Please know that needing professional help or medication does not mean weakness or failure. Many people improve significantly with the right combination of therapy, lifestyle support, and sometimes medication tailored to their needs. Avoiding treatment for too long can sometimes make symptoms more deeply rooted and harder to manage.

I would strongly encourage you to book a proper psychiatric consultation so a full assessment can be done and a treatment plan made specifically for you. Also, if you ever begin having thoughts of harming yourself, hopelessness becomes overwhelming, or you feel unsafe, seek urgent professional support immediately.

You do not have to keep fighting this alone, and recovery is possible even when it feels distant right now.

I appreciate your courage in reaching out. These symptoms can happen in depression, and with proper assessment and treatment, people often do feel better. I would strongly recommend scheduling a consultation so we can understand your situation in detail and discuss suitable treatment options, including therapy and, if needed, medication. You do not have to go through this alone. Help is available
