Asking for Self, Male, 21 years old, Karachi
I feel like everyone notices me whether I’m walking or eating. I struggle to speak in public and often feel like I’m less than others. That’s why I decided to see a psychiatrist. He prescribed me Paroxetine (20 mg) once a day for 5 months and benzodiazepines (3 mg/day) for 10 days. A few days ago, I started experiencing side effects, like delayed ejaculation. So far, I’ve taken 20 tablets of Paroxetine (20 mg each) and finished the benzodiazepine course. Now, I’m wondering if I really need to keep taking these medications. Will stopping them suddenly cause any problems? If so, how should I discontinue them safely? My anxiety isn’t that severe, and I feel like I can manage it on my own. These meds seem to be doing more harm than good, and I don’t see any real benefit even after 20 days.
or for premature ejaculation it can be treatable kindly if feasible book appointment via marham app if u think u can mange ur symptoms than no need of SSRI n benzodiazepene but if u started than slowly tapper of the dose
please get appointment for detail assessment and treatment
pl don't stop paroxetine ,u will be on medication for several months. consult the same psychiatrist for further advice
suddenly stopping on 20 mg would either cause relapse of symptoms or serotonin withdrawal symptoms which are common with SSRI such as paroxietine which have shorter half life, it requires very gradual tapering off or switch to alternative which have less chance of causing serotonin withdrawal symptoms then stopping that medication or we can manage the side effects you are facing and let it complete the course, For proper treatment plan kindly book a consultation with me so we can have a proper deprescribing of the medicine prescribed to you.
It is important to assess ur symptoms and if only a sensitivity around personal perception ( which is a common phenomena in young people of ur age) and social anxiety then u dont need medication. I can help u in few sessions . U can book me online and a video call consultation as i live in UK. Happy to help.Best wishes
u should.consult regarding this
I will highly suggest to you to consult your Psychiatrist who initially started you on medication with the proper diagnosis. As you are relatively feeling better, tapering off the dose or continuing medication should be done in his supervision to avoid any discomfort.
consult a clinical psychologist for PSYCHOTHERAPy.
