Asking for Self, Female, 30 years old, Kudalthi Morr
I am famous as a sarrial person in my inlaws. I live in a joint family. I got married three years ago. I have a 2 year old baby . Everyone loves her. But try to overshadow me. Baby is attached with her phupo n dada dadi. . They love her. But spoil her at the same time. I am upset about it. My rules for restricting her screen time and no mobile is making my baby distant from me. I crave for her love. But she prefer to be with them. Becoz they provide her screen time . She is yelling and shouting if we didn't fulfil her wish. . My mind never let me stay in peace. M always thinking and thinking over some non existing issues. I don't want to away my baby from them but i want to feel included. All the guests relatives come and ask any thing about irha from them.not from me. When i got married. My jethani who came from a wealthy family. My inlaws always preferred her over me. Even when i was pregnant they didn't take care of me even when i was not feeling well. First of all, why are you comparing yourself with your jethani and developing an inferiority complex? It is human nature to compare ourselves with others, but it is not helpful. If she comes from a wealthy family, your in-laws may be more cautious in dealing with her because they do not want to upset her. Whether right or wrong, this can happen in many families. You should respect yourself and recognise your own worth. Do not expect other people to behave exactly as you want, because every individual has their own personality, values, and way of thinking. Your self-worth should never depend on how others treat you. Secondly, although your son's phuppo and grandmother love him very much, that does not mean they should spoil him. First, have a calm discussion with your husband about your concerns. Then, together, make a daily routine for your son that gradually reduces his screen time and encourages healthier activities. You mentioned that you do not want to keep your child away from them, and that is understandable. However, at this stage, your son's well-being and healthy development are more important than the affection he receives from other family members. Sometimes, as a parent, you have to set clear boundaries. You need to learn to say "no" when necessary, and remember that this is not being rude—it is your right and your responsibility as a mother to do what is best for your child.
