Asking For Wife, Female 27, lahore
Hello,
I have a question regarding my wife. We are planning to use a progesterone birth control injection and need guidance on the following points:
What is the proper procedure for getting the progesterone contraceptive injection?
Where in Lahore is this injection available (hospitals or clinics)?
Are there any tests required before getting the injection? If yes, which tests should be done so we can complete them in advance and avoid unnecessary visits.
If we want a gap of one year, how often does this injection need to be taken (after how many months)?
What are the possible side effects, and for which women is this injection suitable or not suitable?
Kindly provide detailed guidance. Thank you.
Inj famila available , depot queen at family planning centres n big medical stores, use 3 monthly, start within 2-3 days of menses, sometimes initially irregular bleeding , take with daily qalsan tablets for calcium
Assalam o Alaikum
It is taken every three months. No pretest required, only history and basic check up.
Main side effect that you need to know is abnormal bleeding and delay in pregnancy for upto one year after stopping.

there are two monthly n three monthly injections that can be had at most clinics n all hospitals. absolute contraindications :
known or suspected pregnancy, current or history of breast cancer, undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding, severe liver disease or tumors, history of blood clots (VTE/DVT/PE), and active cardiovascular issues like stroke or ischemic heart disease, as these conditions pose significant risks that outweigh the contraceptive benefits, with a focus on safety for the patient.
Key Absolute Contraindications:
Pregnancy: Known or suspected pregnancy (especially <6 weeks postpartum).
Breast Cancer: Current or history of breast cancer (hormone-sensitive).
Liver Issues: Severe liver disease, cirrhosis, or liver tumors (hepatoma/adenoma).
Blood Clots: History of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), or other thrombotic disorders.
Cardiovascular Disease: History of stroke, ischemic heart disease, or complicated valvular heart disease.
Undiagnosed Bleeding: Unexplained abnormal vaginal bleeding.
Allergies: Known hypersensitivity to the progestin itself.
Other Important Considerations (May be Relative Contraindications/Precautions):
Smoking: Over 35 and a smoker (especially >15 cigarettes/day).
Hypertension: Poorly controlled high blood pressure (≥160/100 mmHg).
Diabetes: With complications like retinopathy, nephropathy, or neuropathy.
Migraines: With focal neurological symptoms.
Mental Health: History of certain mental health issues or brain tumors (meningioma).
Always consult a healthcare provider to determine if progesterone injections are safe for you, as they will assess your complete medical history.
