Talk to Psychiatry on Over Active Nervous Systm

person-avatar

Asking For Self, Male 44, Gujrat

I have a long-standing problem of constant saliva in the mouth along with ongoing anxiety, poor concentration, and fragmented sleep. The saliva is present most of the time and becomes worse during stress or meetings, requiring frequent swallowing and increasing discomfort. I feel continuously over-alert and unable to relax, as if my nervous system is over-activated. I have already consulted a neurologist and a psychiatrist; tests were normal and treatments provided only temporary relief. I am looking for a safe, long-term approach that calms the nervous system rather than only giving short-term symptom relief.

Your symptoms strongly suggest a chronically over activated (sensitized) autonomic nervous system, most commonly seen in generalized anxiety disorder with somatic symptoms. The constant saliva, hyper alertness, poor concentration, and fragmented sleep are functional symptoms, not a neurological disease.this is supported by your normal investigations. Anxiety and chronic stress can overstimulate the parasympathetic and sympathetic balance, leading to Increased salivary gland activity,Constant urge to swallow,Worsening during meetings, stress, or self focus. This is common in anxiety and is not dangerous, but it becomes very distressing due to hyper awareness. Medications alone may reduce symptoms briefly, but when the nervous system remains sensitized, symptoms return unless long term regulation strategies are used. This condition is reversible. No permanent damage is occurring.Recovery is gradual, not instant. You are not alone.many people recover fully with the right approach.
