Asking For Self, Male 32, Abbottabad
i did my lipids tests six months back and the results were:
total cholestrol: 178 HDL : 31 LDL: 126 Triglycerides: 230
i recent did my lipids again after six months and results are:
total cholestrol: 207 HDL : 29 LDL: 141 Triglycerides: 277
i started to walk for 40 minutes daily but it isnot helping i guess. total cholestrol level has increased. HDL has decreased, and LDL and triglycerides have also increased.
just wanted to know do i need to start any medication ( if yes then please recommend) for this or are the levels normal and i dont need anything.
please advise...
you need to have an online appointment for detail history and detail examination. you can get yourself reviwed from you home.
No you don't need to start any medicine just improve your lifestyle and do exercise.

hi
i really appreciate your health awareness and health seeking behaviour. The decision to treat high lipids in absence of familial lipidemia is very much depended on your risk to develop cardiovascular problems as a result of this high cholesterol. There are various tools used to gauge these risks one of them widely used in UK primary care is QRISK score. This incorporates a lot of factors including age, BMI, blood pressure family history your smoking other comorbidities (other illness) and gives a score that signifies how much more risk you have compared to normal population.if the score is above 15% we recommend medication any score less than this should be addressed with active lifestyle and dietary modifications.
this is the link you can use to calculate this score
https://qrisk.org/three/index.php
i have calculated your risk based on given details and putting systolic BP 130 it is coming 1 per cent that is negligible.
please do this exercise and let me know what is your actual score if you would like a further discussion I am happy to consult you online please keep in mind there is 4 hours time difference as I am based in the UK.
