Talk to General Physician on Urine Culture Test With Antibiotics
Asking For Someone else, Mother, Female, 60 Years old, Karachi
Patient 60y Female is having pain in urinating with trouble in retention. We went to doctor to consult where she was prescribed Furolin tablets and some painkillers. The doctor also asked for Urine Culture test. Now that she is already taking meds, is it ok to undergo this urine culture test as i am under the impression that antibiotics may affect the outcome of the test. Appreciate your kind response

Hello, how are you? Ideally for urine culture you shouldn't be on antibiotics as it might provide you with false positive/false negative results. Can you confirm for how long has she taken Furolin? Any co morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension? Has this happened to her the first time or she has a chronic UTI problem?
