is it safe for a diabetic patient to go for CT scan with this serum creatinine result.she is advised to intake more water before and after CT scan.

your primary consultant who has ordered the CT scan should corrdinate with a nephrologist and the radiology department to devise a management plan. Patients need multidisciplinary care. one test report without any history or comprehensive investigatiin findings are not adequate for anyone to give any advice on a text message.
If it is plan CT is ok but if they are doing with contrast.... Nephrologist opinion should be taken

Short answer is yes, it is safe to go for ct with contrast in this case. Do follow the advice for increased water intake before and after.( upto 3 hours before and 6 to 12 hours after).
the long answer is that getting ct contrast done in this case has a relatively increased risk of causing kidney damage. so it is about weighing the risk of cancer scan complication vs burden of disease due to missed diagnoses of problem for which ct is advised. ct without contrast would be a better option if possible

if depends on why do you want to proceed for CT scan. if its really important for treatment or diagnosis then yes but only under nephrologist care and good hydration status of patient

Patient should hydrate herself adequately before the CT, if it's necessary. CT contrast is nephrogenic, therefore you should consult a nephrologist too. Or monitor RFTs later.

Yes this is safe for a diabetic patient to go for CT scan but not with IV contrast because in case of IV contrast deranged Renal functions will make kindly unable to clear dye of contrast from body
yes she can go for CT without contrast , but in case if she needs contrast CT it's based on risk and benefit basis , her gfr is more than 60 so if she needs urgent CT with contrast thn she can go for that but iv hydration is mandatory .
Normally functional kidney is having value of estimated GFR GREATER THAN 60. However, for CT, eGFR > 45 indicates no increased risk of kidney damage from contrast material. eGFR > 30, but less than 45 indicates that while it is safe to get contrast material, there is a small risk of causing kidney damage. In that situation, we will inject additional fluid into the patient’s vein before and after the contrast material injection. This hydration is effective to prevent any renal damage. In your patient eGFR is 45.3. Therefore there is no increased risk, however I will still advise fluid infusion before and after contrast.

In case the CT scan is with contrast , this creatinine level at 59 years of age , may rarely ,damage the kidneys but then your doctor has to decide if it’s absolutely essential .if it’s a must then go ahead , take lots of water before and 3-4 days after the ct scan test, stop metformin 24 hours before the scan and repeat creatinine 2-3 days after the scan .
What is Contrast Induced Nephropathy (CIN)?
CIN is a rare disorder and occurs when kidney problems are caused by the use of certain contrast dyes. In most cases contrast dyes used in tests, such as CT (computerized tomography) and angiograms, have no reported problems. About 2 percent of people receiving dyes can develop CIN. However, the risk for CIN can increase for people with diabetes, a history of heart and blood diseases, and chronic kidney disease (CKD). For example, the risk of CIN in people with advanced CKD (glomerular filtration rate (GFR) below 30 mL/min/1.73m2), increases to 30 to 40 percent. The risk of CIN in people with both CKD and diabetes is 20 to 50 percent.
