Asking for Self, Male, 25 years old, Hyderabad
At the age of 16 , I diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy as I facing issue in walking At that time , doctor is saying it is not treatable Currently I am at age of 25 facing same issues means difficulty in walking , climbing steers etc
My question is DMD is treatable?
Unfortunately, DMD is not curable, but you can manage it. Difficulty mobilizing is managed with splints and orthoses along with appropriate physiotherapy have developed contractures, minor procedures can help with that
in my opinion you have Becker Muscular Dystrophy Or BMD, Ducheens presents at the age of 2 to 4 years and BMD at an age of 6 to 15 years and above, Ducherns progress quite rapidly but Beckers has a slow progress, both have no cure but there is a Syp launched In USA,which is FDA approved for DMD and BMD, which slows down the progression of disease but it is very very expensive about 3 to 4 crore Per year, it's DUVYZAT, continue physiotherapy take muscle relaxants and cap CQ10 daily.
