Assessment:
For a 1-year-old baby, a soft swelling after a fall is most commonly a scalp hematoma, which means blood collected under the skin, not inside the brain. It is usually harmless.
Reassuring Signs:
No vomiting
Normal behavior
Eating well
These are all good signs.
Why the swelling increased:
Warm compress increases blood flow, which can make the swelling look bigger.
For head injuries, warm compress should not be used.
What you should do:
Use cold compress (ice wrapped in cloth) for 10 minutes, 2–3 times a day
Give paracetamol only if there is pain
Do not press the swelling
Recovery time:
This type of swelling can take 2–4 weeks to settle. Sometimes up to 6 weeks.
Red flags (go to ER immediately):
Vomiting
Excessive sleepiness
Fits/convulsions
Weakness in arms or legs
Swelling suddenly becoming very hard or rapidly increasing
Fever with redness over the swelling
Conclusion:
If the child is active and behaving normally, this swelling is not dangerous and will improve on its own. No test is usually needed.
if swelling not subsiding ,having tenderness and redness consult with Paediatric surgeon
thanks hope it answered well

wa alykum salam
agar vomiting nahi hay aur bacha feeding theek ker raha hay to Insha’Allah sub theek ho ga. compression bi na karain. 1-2 weeks main swelling kam ho jai gi. agar vomiting ya poor feeding ho ja bacha ziyada cry ker raha ho do kisi qualified child specialist ko check karwain.
If swelling is increasing in size you should get him rechecked by Child specialist.
