Asking For Self, Male 19, isb

I need phyciatrist to answer. I have been taking anti depressants for 3 months. but now I feel alot better and I feel that I don't need tablets any more. therefore I want to discontinue them as I don't need them anymore as I feel that what I required from antidepressants have been achieved to me. however the doctor told me that it can lead to severe Symptoms if u stop taking them. please tell me how do I discontinue them without any Symptoms.

It depends on the diagnosis given to you prior, this is a rule in guidelines that if once some one has started antidepressant, he or she has to continue for a minimum period of 6-9 months after the symptoms have remitted. I suggest you to follow your Psychiatrists advise.

Hi,good to know you are improving,,according to Prescribing guidlines if you have ist episode of depression you should continue your medication for atleast 6-9 months with regular followups and consultation from your treating Psychiatrist.
self discontinuation or tapering down dose can cause worsening/ relapse of symptoms.

continue antidepressant even if ur symptoms subside .if u have any doubt then consult ur psychiatrist or to anyone u want . this mistake done by patients and then they regret it

It is important to see what was ur diagnosis bz every illness has different duration of treatmemt....secondly although u have achieved remission but if u will stop abruptly before completion of treatment, symptoms will reappear and with more severity...so kindly follow the treatmemt duration
