Asking For Father, Male 60, Lahore
My father became very confuse and Restless every night when going to sleep. He has used anti depressant for two to three weeks and now he is not using it. What could be the possibile reason for these symptoms? Is this antidepressants withdrawal symptoms or anything else? Your response will be appreciated

Anti-depressive medicines should not be started or stopped without the advice of the doctor. If the doctor thinks to terminate the therapy he tappers off the medicine. So it is better to consult the same doctor who prescribed the meicines

First question is why he is using that antidepressants? Dose and frequency of antidepressants? Type of antidepressants?

1. He is not able to sleep due to family problems and depression
2. He is a heart patient and ckd( creatinine 1.7)
3.The cardiologist advised to take the alprozalam (0.5mg) once at night
when you couldn't able to sleep and stop when you feel better

Did he start the antidepressant with the advice of Dr? If yes then why he stopped by himself? Because we cannot stop antidepressants suddenly. It's the withdrawal and also we can say it is the after-age effect too. For detailed assessment and diagnosis book an appointment with me or any other psychologist for better treatment of their anxiety and restlessness.
It might be withdrawal symptoms and something else disturbing him. Complete history taking can probe it.
