Talk to General Surgeon on Pilonidal Sinus Healing

Asking For Self, Male 38, Khairpur

3 months before i had open excision pilonidal sinus surgery. Wound waseft to heal via secondary intention with daily dressing. I have attached 3 pics. First is of 2nd day of surgery. 2nd and 3rd pics are at 90th day. 2nd pic has been taken from upwards and 3rd pic has been taken by opening with both hands. Kindly tell me why this small portion left in 3rd pic is not healing since many days as most of wound has healed. Now doctor has stopped all dressing and asked to wash it while taking bath with showee. Kindly guide.

this disease is very complex and the recurrence is high. u have tried open surgery for this. this should have been closed by now. my suggestion for you is to go for laser treatment if this doesn't close in a couple of days.

Sir unhealed area is so small that it can not be dressed anymore. Its nash red. No pain and fever or odour. If we open it than it further opens aleeady healed part. So its very tiny opening which is even not visible unless wound is opened with two fingers. My doctor says that your wound is 95% healed, remaining 5 percent will heal on its own. Only thing he has suggested me to bath regularly and put wash wound while taking bath.

recurrence is common after pilonidal surgery. This small wound which has not healed yet might need cleaning of any further collection of broken hairs. Under local application of xylocain gel, this wound can be curetted out, followed by dressings. hopefully it will soon heal.
