Talk to General Physician on BP,Sleep And Anxiety Issues

person-avatar

Asking For Self, Male 35, Peshawar

Hi, I’m a software engineer, and over the past 5–6 years I’ve worked with dual jobs for long hours, which has affected my work-life balance and caused me health issues

Medical history & symptoms:

Childhood constipation (now resolved); had hemorrhoid surgery 2 years ago Ongoing bloating Anxiety and poor sleep (usually can’t sleep before 2–3 am) Blood pressure fluctuations (sometimes up to 140/90, recently dropping to ~110 with weakness) Constant heaviness in my head Chest pain at night (mostly left side, but shifting), sometimes with pain in the left arm Sometimes feeling fast heartbeat at night

My ECG and Echo were normal. I was prescribed Nebovo for BP and Sleepzol for sleep, but another docot (psychologist) advised to use melatonin instead of slepzol, which is not curing my sleep properly

I’d appreciate any guidance on what this might be and what steps I should take next.

Hi,

Assessing all your symptoms, it does seem like a stress/anxiety issue provided that the ECG and Echo also came out to be normal.

All these symptoms aside, do you experience worrying thoughts? Shoulder and neck pain? Irregular bowel movements?

Also could you tell me if you have prolonged exposure to screens, esp before going to bed? That could also be potentially causing you sleep problems.

As for the BP, the normal range is 120/80 mmHg. But in a normal person, it can fluctuate from 110/70 to even 140/90. So if your BP remains in that range, you don\'t need to take any medications for that. However if your BP goes beyond 150/100 or if you have constant pulsating headaches, epigastric pain, pain in eyes etc then I would suggest medications and avoiding too salty foods.

Other than that, if certain habits are changed, this can be reversed. Try and have healthy outlets like running, cycling, swimming, yoga, healthy food intake. Avoid screentimes especially 2 hours before going to bed. If anxiety peaks, you can take tab ALP 0.25 mg once daily for a week and see if it helps.

If you want to know anything else, please feel free to reach out.
