What is the CBC test?
A complete blood count is the most commonly ordered blood test in Pakistan, and the one most people have had without ever being told what it looks at. MedlinePlus describes it as a group of blood tests that measure the number and size of the different cells in your blood. One sample, taken from a vein in your arm, gives your doctor a picture of your blood in a single report. At Marham Lab a CBC costs Rs 560, reduced from Rs 800.
CBC and Blood CP Are the Same Test
This causes real confusion, so it is worth settling first.
In Pakistan the same test is written on prescriptions as CBC, Blood CP, blood complete picture, CP test, or sometimes Blood C/E. MedlinePlus also lists full blood count and blood cell count as other names for it.

There are five major types of white blood cell. MedlinePlus explains that a standard CBC measures the total number of white cells, while a separate test called a CBC with differential measures how many there are of each type.
