It is a type of brain tumor that may develop in the pituitary gland embryonic tissue that is present in the children. But this disease is not only restricted to the children but may affect the adults with the same rate.
This tumor may cause some medical complication in its severe form such as; bitemporal inferior quadrantanopia that leads to bitemporal hemianopsia, due to compression of the optic chiasm.
The exact cause of this disease is not known yet but it is considered that it may develop during the developmental stages in the embryo during pregnancy. Such as; abnormal development of the craniopharyngeal duct or anterior pituitary gland may lead to the Craniopharyngioma.
