Interstitial cystitis is a painful bladder syndrome which is characterized by bladder pressure and chronic bladder pain. The person may feel the need to urinate more often but with lesser volumes of urine. Women affected more with this syndrome as compared to men. The exact reason for the onset of this syndrome but the possible reasons may be an autoimmune reaction, heredity, some infection or allergy. This disorder can be treated with Physical therapy, oral medications like nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, bladder distention or surgery.
