Endometriosis is often a painful condition in which the tissue that normally covers the inner part of the uterus, the endometrium, develops outside the uterus. Endometriosis usually involves in ovaries, fallopian tubes, and tissues lining the pelvis. In rare cases, the endometrial tissue may extend beyond the pelvic organs.

In endometriosis, dislocated endometrial tissue continues to function normally, it thickens, breaks, and bleeds with each menstrual cycle. Since this dislocated tissue has no way out of your body, it is trapped. If endometriosis affects the ovaries, cysts called endometriomas. The surrounding tissue can be irritated and eventually scars and adhesions can form. Endometriosis can sometimes cause severe pain, especially during menstruation. Fertility problems can also develop. Fortunately, there are effective treatments.


The exact cause of endometriosis isn’t known. But it may happen due to

  • Retrograde menstruation
  • Surgery
  • Hormonal problem


This condition is generally manifested by following signs
