Your father had a stroke in the past which was obviously overlooked by him and the family. Now he is having fits which are called post stroke epilepsy. Now he needs medication to control his fits plus medication to stop him having another stroke. This is important because anyone who has ischaemic stroke is a candidate for another stroke unless we remove the cause of his stroke. Ischaemic stroke is caused by either narrowing of carotid arteries where clots are coming from the neck arteries and we have to start anti platelets or a clot coming from the heart in atrial fibrillation which is a condition where the only way to stop the clots is to go on anti coagulant drugs.
