Do not use any medication while breastfeeding without speaking to your doctor. Second, orlistat does have side effects, and will not magically make you lose weight. If it did, every overweight person would be using it, and no one would have a weight problem. You need to learn how to adopt a healthy diet and lifestyle for the benefit of yourself and your child. Orlistat is a globally recommended and FDA authorized drug for weight loss. Chances of its absorption into milk are the least. However, it reduces the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins and thus can lower the quality of breast-milk. Therefore avoid during the first 6 months of breastfeeding. It is better to follow a balanced and individualized diet plan.
