Wsalam, since your baby was born premature at 32 weeks and 3 days, his feeding pattern may be slightly irregular as preemies take time to develop strong sucking reflexes. It is normal for a preterm baby at 13 days old (adjusted age ~34 weeks) to take small feeds like 0.5 to 1 ounce per feeding, as their stomach capacity is still small. Gradually, as the baby grows and gains strength, the feeding volume will increase. Most preterm babies start taking 2 ounces per feed around 37-40 weeks corrected age (or age 1-1.5 month). Focus on feeding on demand every 2-3 hours (including the night time every 3-4 hours), ensure he is gaining weight, passing urine 6-8 times a day, and is active. If he is too sleepy to feed or not gaining weight, consult a pediatrician to assess his growth and feeding needs. Dr. Raza (MD, USA).
