My daughter is facing constipation since 4 months. i hv given number of medicine but no use. finally i gv her castor oil to relieve. Is it fine to give castor oil to one year baby for constipation relief?
1 year old should not be given castor oil to treat constipation. There are other medicines available which are better and less harmful than castor oil.
Use Movicol sachets 2-6 sachets daily. Adjust dose based on his response. Reduce the dose when he starts passing soft normal regular stools daily. Thereafter, Continue atleast 1-2 sachets daily for 2 months. Do not stop the minimum dose unless child starts to have Diarrhea. Follow this up with your local doctor after 1-2 months.

she is 1 year old. she is taking solids like half fried egg, rice, small peices of roti. she is on mother milk. she is not drinking cow / buffalo milk. she eats fruits like apple and bnana.

Improve her diet further.
Offer 3 meals a day with plenty of fibre.
Offer water to drink during and between the feeds.
Try Lactulose syrup 1 tea spoon two times a day
