Asking for Other, Female, 2 years old, Karachi
Assalamoalaikum. My daughter almost 2 year old is having diarrhea since a week now. She was pooping 12 to 15 times a day with mucous and sometimes blood. I consulted a pead and she adviced Cefspan 5 ml once a day for 6days Enterogermina twice a day for 6days Zincat 5 ml once a day for 10 days Now her poop has reduced to 6 7 a day but still mucousy and bloody. Doc has started a course of flygyl 5 ml for 5 days. I want to know aht could be the cause of blood in her stool. Also what other course of action I can take. She is eating well Alhamdulillah rather I think her appetite has increased. Could it be worms? Kindly guide. Jazakillah
Have you done a stool DR and Culture. Always before starting any antibiotics a culture report of stool is needed with antibiogram; This is important to see what pathogen (germ) is causing the diarrhoea and the antibiotigram that comes with it helps show us which antibiotics will work against that germ. Some gastroenteritis (runny tummies) can trigger chronic diseases in susceptible populations, so screening for coeliac, thyroid function etc. would be recommended in cases where the diarrhoea persists beyond 2 weeks.

salamIt could be giardia or worms U have to give entamizole for 10 days n thn plan for deworm
