Asking for Other, Female, 5 years old, Overseas
5 year old girl blood test result has lymphocyte auto 3.4 - refrence values (6-9). The girl has slight difficulty in walking since she started walking at around 2 years of age as she can't put her right leg directly in front of her. Due to this she falls when she tries to walk briskly. Other than this, she doesn't complains and is rather active. Getting normal Dr's appointment before Eid is unlikely and may take longer. What is the likely diagnosis for her? Is the lymphocyte value normal or should see a dr. On emergency basis?
The girl doesn't resides in Pakistan.
The most likely cause is Developmental Dysplasia of Hip joint. Lymphocyte alone does not give any clue. Final diagnosis will need examination to local doctor.
Low lymphocyte count is rather common finding seen in viral illnesses, if child is otherwise well then nothing to worry about.
With regards her being clumsy and difficulty in walking, there are many neurological and orthopedic causes.
Child needs to see a qualified Paediatrician for a detailed clinical evaluation to rule out any medical conditions. If it is an ongoing issue then she can wait to be seen after Eid.
