Talk to Pediatrician on Toddler Dirrhea

Is bismol syrup safe to give to 1 year old in dirrhea with no fever. Visited pediatrician and he prescribed probiotics and zinc syrup. I previously used to give Q plex/Q palgite to my baby for loose stools and the doctor is very much against it and told me not to give it again as its banned in many countries. Is it actually dangerous? And what about bismol.. is it safe?
