Asking For Self, Female, 26 Years old, Pakistan
For the last 1.5 years, I have been unable to do anything. It feels as if I am at a stage of mental block from which I cannot move ahead. I had a toxic situation at work and was exposed to a person of a higher hierarchy who used to tell me things like I was stupid and I would suffer in life. I had never been like this before, but I was unable to move ahead. I also tried talking to psychologists and taking some pills, but my situation did not get better until now. Right now, I am unemployed and cannot look for work because I am too scared. Sometimes, I feel sad because right now, I am not doing anything, and I have not been able to achieve the things I dreamt of working so hard for because of this stop. I am in another city away from family because I couldn’t find work where I lived. I am afraid of going home and not being able to do anything, however, right now, I am also not doing very great. I feel very demotivated in life as if the cheerful and motivated person I used to be lost the

I can sense how deeply the past experience has affected you, and I want to acknowledge the strength it takes to share your feelings. It’s okay to feel stuck and overwhelmed after going through such a toxic environment—it’s a natural response to the hurtful words and experiences you endured.
It sounds like you’re carrying not just the weight of your past, but also the expectations you have for yourself. Remember, healing takes time, and it’s important to be kind and patient with yourself during this process. You’re not alone in this, and it’s okay to seek help in ways that resonate with you.
Here are a few gentle steps you can consider:
1. Start Small: Break your goals into tiny, manageable steps. For example, if looking for work feels overwhelming, start by just updating your resume or exploring industries that interest you without the pressure of applying.
2. Reconnect with Yourself: Spend time doing small things that once brought you joy, even if it’s something as simple as listening to music, journaling, or going for a walk. This can help you rediscover parts of the cheerful and motivated self you feel disconnected from.
3. Challenge Negative Beliefs: The toxic words you were exposed to may have left deep scars, but they don’t define who you are. Remind yourself of your accomplishments and the qualities that make you unique. Writing these down can be a helpful reminder when doubts creep in.
4. Find a Support System: If you feel isolated, reconnecting with family or trusted friends can provide a sense of comfort and support. Even if you’re away, regular calls or messages can make a difference.
5. Professional Guidance: If previous therapy didn’t help, consider seeking a different approach or therapist. Sometimes, finding the right fit can make all the difference in your healing journey.
Finally, remind yourself that it’s okay not to have everything figured out right now. You’re in a transitional phase, and even though it feels challenging, it’s also an opportunity to rebuild and redefine what success and happiness mean to you.
You’ve already taken a brave step by reflecting on your situation and seeking clarity. That shows resilience and hope. One step at a time, you can move forward from here." you should book a session with me to get detailed insight and solutions.
