Causes of Arthritis

In many forms of arthritis, the cause is unknown. But some things can increase your chances of getting it.

Age.

As you get older, your joints tend to wear out.

Sex.

Most types of arthritis are more common in women, with the exception of gout.

Genes. 

Diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and ankylosing spondylitis are associated with certain genes.

Overweight.

Carrying extra pounds causes the arthritis of the knee to start earlier and worsen faster.

Injuries.

They can cause joint damage, which can cause some problems.

Risk Factors of Arthritis

Some risk factors have been linked to arthritis. Some are workable, others are not. 

Age: 

The risk of arthritis is increasing with age.

Gender:

Most types of arthritis are more common in women and 60% of all people with arthritis are women. It is very common in male than females.

Genetic factors:

Certain genes are associated with an increased risk of certain types of arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and ankylosing spondylitis.

Risk factors for modified arthritis:

Overweight and Obesity:

Overweight can contribute to the onset and progression of knee osteoarthritis.

Joint injuries:

Injuries to a joint can contribute to the development of osteoarthritis in this joint.

Infection:

Many microbial agents can affect the joints and trigger the development of various types of arthritis.

Occupation:

Certain occupations with repeated knee flexion and coupling are associated with osteoarthritis of the knee.

Types of Arthritis

The types of arthritis are bellow.

Osteoarthritis. 

In osteoarthritis, the cushions at the end of the bones, called cartilage, decrease. Due to this bones collide with each other. You may have pain in your fingers, knees or hips.

This usually happens with age. However, when the causes are late, it can start much sooner. For example, a sports injury, such as a cruciate ligament tear (ACL) or a fracture near a joint, can cause arthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis.  

A disease in which the immune system attacks its own tissues. This can damage the articular surface and the underlying bone. It can cause pain, swelling, stiffness and movement disorders. You can also have:

  • Tired

  • fever

  • Weightloss  

  • Inflammation of the eyes

  • The bumps under the skin are called nodules.

  • Pneumonia

Gout.

it is one of the painful types. The accumulation of uric acid in the body causes the formation of crystalline deposits in the joints. You may notice pieces under your skin called Tophi. Many people see the first symptoms of gout on the big toes, which can become inflamed, painful, red and hot. Other areas that gout can attack are:

  • Kick

  • Anchor

  • Heels

  • The Knees

  • fists

  • The finger

  • Elbow
